TRAVEL WEARY ‘STORMERS ROUTED BY REVS

York Homers Ruin Lancaster’s Homecoming

The York Revolution blasted four home runs on Friday night while the Lancaster Barnstormers managed only eight singles as the Revs captured the opener of a three-game weekend series, 12-3.

With the win, York climbed to within a game of Lancaster in the PNC Bank War of the Roses, 8-7.

Bryan Pounds fired the first shot in the salvo with a three-run blast onto the deck in right field in the top of the second off Bryan Evans (4-9).

Kevin Rivers cranked his fifth homer of the season over the batter’s eye in center field in the fifth.

The remaining two blasts came off the bullpen with Andres Perez taking Hitoshi Fujie to right center in the eighth and Michael Rockett capped it off with a three-run shot to right off Jonny Drozd in the ninth.

York’s other runs came on rapid fire singles and doubles off Pete Andrelczyk in the ninth as the Revs iced the game with a seven-run surge total.

Only R.J. Hively and Ryan Dennick escaped the night without getting nicked, each pitching a 1-2-3 inning.

Kevin Ahrens picked up three of Lancaster’s singles, scoring a second inning run on an error by pitcher Tony Pena (7-7) and knocking in the final run of the night in the ninth. Sean Halton had two singles, also with a run scored and an RBI.

The Barnstormers will entertain York again on Saturday evening. Lancaster will send right-hander Terry Doyle (6-6) to the mound against right-hander Micah Owings (4-4). Fans may tune into the Barnstormers YouTube Channel, beginning at 6:45.
